Our Services – Individual Therapy

Therapy at Breaking the Loop is one-on-one, collaborative, and built around you. There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment plan here — every client comes in with a different history, different challenges, and different goals. Sessions are designed to help you understand what’s keeping you stuck, develop real skills to manage it, and make meaningful progress toward the life you want.

Your first session is a conversation — a lot of questions, some back and forth, and no pressure to have everything figured out before you walk in. The goal is to understand what you want to get out of treatment, what symptoms brought you to seek help, and what’s going on in your life that may be contributing to how you’re feeling. By the end of that first session, we’ll begin to take shape on a treatment plan that actually fits your situation.

Subsequent sessions build from there — moving at a pace that challenges you without overwhelming you, with a therapist who will be direct with you, collaborate with you, and show up fully invested in your progress.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Treatment

OCD and anxiety are both rooted in the same exhausting cycle — intrusive thoughts, overwhelming worry, and the compulsive need to neutralize or avoid the discomfort they create. Over time, that cycle narrows your world. The things you avoid multiply, the rituals increase, and what once felt manageable starts to take over daily life.

OCD is one of the most misunderstood conditions in mental health. It’s not about being neat or particular — it’s a relentless loop of intrusive thoughts and compulsive responses that can feel impossible to escape without the right treatment. Anxiety, whether it shows up as generalized worry, social anxiety, panic, or something else entirely, operates on a similar principle: avoidance provides short-term relief but feeds the cycle long-term.

Treatment is built around Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard approach for OCD and one of the most effective tools for anxiety as well — alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and DBT techniques. The work is direct and practical, focused on breaking the cycle rather than just managing symptoms.

Trauma and PTSD Therapy

Trauma doesn’t always look the way people expect it to. It can show up as hypervigilance, emotional numbness, relationship difficulties, intrusive memories, or a persistent sense that you’re not safe — even when you are. Whatever your experience, trauma treatment at Breaking the Loop is a space to process what happened without being re-traumatized by it.

Two evidence-based approaches are used depending on what fits best for you: Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Both have strong research behind them and are specifically designed to help you work through traumatic experiences, reduce their grip on your daily life, and reclaim a sense of safety and control.

Addictions Treatment and Recovery Support

Addiction is a cycle — and like all cycles, it can be broken. Whether you’re navigating substance use, behavioral addiction, or early recovery, treatment at Breaking the Loop meets you where you are without judgment. The focus is on understanding the function your addictive patterns serve, building motivation for change, and developing the skills to sustain it.

Treatment draws on Motivational Interviewing (MI), SMART Recovery principles, and DBT techniques — approaches that respect your autonomy, work with your readiness to change, and give you practical tools for long-term recovery. There’s no single right path to recovery, and treatment here reflects that.
